As installed in the Works International Arts Festival, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

The phrase I MISS THE SOUND OF THE SEA was written on the four gallery walls “at wave level”.

When repeated numerous times, the phrase brings to mind the actual sound of the sea. The absence of some of the letters invites the viewer to fill in the blanks.

If the absent letters take place in the viewer’s mind, have they ever been missing at all?

A contrast to the institutional four gallery walls and the commodities they contain, the work suggests that the concept of the sea cannot become a marketable material.
